Avis Car Rental at 9215 John Saunders Road, San Antonio, Texas.

The car was nice and had no problems. In addition to all of the insurance that they offer at an exorbitant price, the sales clerk asked us if we would like the gas service option for $36.23. (We did not buy their insurance because we used our own.) She said that with the gas service option, we would not be charged the fuel service charge if we are unable to fill the tank before returning the car. She added that when we return the car, we will be credited back the difference between the $36.23 and the cost to fill the tank at $2.55/gal. So in the end, we would only pay the cost to fill the tank at $2.55/gal. She said that we may be able to fill the tank on our own at a cheaper rate, but this is a convenience if we are unable. Based on that information, we decided to purchase the gas service option. So, we returned the car with 1/2 a tank, thinking we would be reimbursed for the difference. It was a Kia Soul (pretty small car) and we only drove it 157 miles. We figured the tank is probably no more than 10 gal and 1/2 is left. So the math works out to 5 gal x $2.55/gal. = $12.75. We should get $23.48 back. Turns out the sales clerk didn't exactly tell us the same information that is in the fine print on the rental agreement. The rental agreement which we read afterward, states that you don't get credit for any gas left in the tank. So Avis took us for $23.48. When standing at the counter to pick up your car and have to make these decisions, you don't think to take the time to read the rental agreement to make sure the sales people are not lying to you. But lesson learned, when the sales person tells you great reasons for why you should purchase one of their options, ask the sales agent to show it to you in writing first, even if there are many people waiting in line behind you. In my opinion, I think the misrepresentation is intentional. I trusted what the sales agent told me at the time. I won't do that again and I also won't do business with a company that I feel cheated me, again.
